If you've been practicing the affirmation process I shared with you in the last post, then no doubt you've been going deep into the meaning of each word of your affirmations, ensuring that your words are not just being said by rote, but with feeling and emotion. (Yay! Keep it up!) We're going to apply that same concept to today's affirmation, with emphasis on one particular word: GOD.
So, what does the word "God" mean to you? How do you feel inside when you hear or say the word "God"? It's important to understand that your emotional and mental associations with the word God will determine whether or not you reap the wonderful benefits of this affirmation. Notice that Catherine begins the affirmation with "A loving God". Take a moment and allow those words to swirl around in your mind and heart. Do you believe that God is loving? Many of us, myself included, have heard opinions to the contrary. So what do you believe?
Think about that for a moment. This is a fundamental, core belief we're talking about. It may not be something you consciously think about every day, but your beliefs about the nature of God, and the universe as a whole, exist within your subconscious mind - along with the rest of your beliefs, and they are influencing every aspect of your life. If you notice you have any resistance to the term "A loving God", take some time to analyze that. Question any thought that arises to the contrary, and know that no matter where you picked that thought up from, you have full and complete power to drop it like a hot potato and choose a new one. ;) One of the most beautiful things about being human is our ability to change our minds, which in turn, changes our lives.
